The World's Most Private Search Engine

Google and other search engines are collecting detailed databases on all of us as we use their search engine.

Katherine Albrecht maintains that Google is using our personal information without consent to create a centralized database of just about everything imaginable.  She  is a consumer privacy expert and VP of startpage.com, the world's most private search engine.

Startpage, and its sister search engine Ixquick, are the only third-party certified search engines in the world that do not record your IP address or track your searches.
Those searches reveal a shocking amount of personal information about you, such as your interests, family circumstances, political leanings, medical conditions, and more. This information is modern-day gold for marketers, government officials, hackers and criminals - all of whom would love to get their hands on your private search data.

I listened to an interview with Katherine yesterday and she said even your email is being analyzed for data by some companies. If you email a friend and tell them you are going on a vacation to Brazil and you start getting ads popping up on your computer for trips to Brazil, she said this is no coincidence.

Some people like having ads customized towards them personally, but others of us are not so happy about this. Additionally, this collection of personal information is available to others such as the government.

You can read more about what and how data is being collected as well as information about startpage.com at this link
